Terra X was born because we were tired of holding our phones in our laps or watching cheap plastic mounts rattle to pieces on washboard roads.

In 2018, we sold our custom furniture shop, packed up our first self-built van, and hit the road with our dog. We spent months navigating remote trails. Alex started building his own heavy-duty solutions right inside our van just so we could navigate safely.

At a meetup in San Diego, other vanlifers saw his craftsmanship and said: “I need exactly that.”

That was our spark. Today, we’re out of the van and in our workshop in Vista, California, building the exact drill-free, rock-solid gear we wish we’d had from day one.

When we face a frustration on the trail, Alex sits down and spends months prototyping, testing, and refining a solution.

Once a design is ready, we partner with a local California machine shop to cut our heavy-duty aluminum plates. Back in our shop, Alex operates all the machinery himself. We print every single mounting bracket on our industrial SLS 3D printers, then clean, dye, and assemble everything by hand.
